YEARLY EVENTS:

Wreaths Across America (December, 2 weeks prior to Christmas)

Every year the Mansfield 177th Squadron, along with many other Civil Air Patrol Squadrons and civic other organization across the country participate in an event called “Wreaths Across America”.  On the second Saturday of December each year, Christmas Wreaths made by The Worcester Wreath Company of Harrington, Maine are place at the final resting places of U.S. Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen, Merchant Marines, and Marines across the country.  Just last year, 300 locations held wreath laying ceremonies in every state, Puerto Rico and 24 overseas cemeteries.  Over 100,000 wreaths were placed on veterans graves and over 60,000 volunteers participated. The Mansfield 177th Squadron collects sponsorships for and participates in the wreath laying ceremony at The Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman, Ohio.  The Mansfield 177th Squadron participates in a joint Honor Guard with the Medina County Skyhawks 219th Composite Squadron to post and retire the Colors at this event.  This event starts promptly at noon and is open to the public.  For more information on Wreaths Across America, please visit their website at www.wreathsacrossamerica.org.
